1985 batch alumni of Versova Welfare Association School felicitated senior teachers & ex- principals of the school

Mumbai 5th May 2018When we talk about school we remember friends, fun, teachers immediately and start feeling nostalgic. School is a time when we create memories that last us a life time. The studies, the fights, scolding’s we received from our teachers help us shape our life for us in the real world. To celebrate and to create more memories, students from the 1985batch of Versova Welfare Association School met after 33years on 5th May 2018 to felicitate the teachers who made a difference to their lives. During the event the ex- students relived their school memories by ringing the school bell to signal the end of their performances, took attendance, performing on their favourite songs which were popular in school, which brought back wonderful, happy school memories to both students and teachers alike. Former students Sunita Dhane, Shubhangi Gawde, Vaishali Kashid, Jitendra Pathakand, Girish Bane have played an important part in bringing together students and teachers of 1985 batch.
For 75 year old ex Prof. Achala Korde this is something which has brought a smile on her face. She says, “I have heard that these kids have been practicing dance performances and working day and night to host this special day for us. We really feel happy and proud that we could create such good souls who want to give back to their teachers”
“After school, students go their different ways to pursue their own careers. Over time especially with the growing demands of education, jobs and family, we tend to drift away from our friends and the only thing which remains are our fond memories of the days that are gone by. But, now thanks to Facebook which gave us a chance to find our fellow batch mates. Over a period of one and a half year we could findaround 70-75 of our batch mates and eventually teachers through contacts. Those days, the respect we had for the teachers and their teachings played an important part in shaping our future. We all had an urge to do something special for our teachers hence the function planned for them”, shared Girish Bane an alumni of Versova Welfare Association School.
While talking about this program Ex. Principal Pushpa Dhaktode says, “We are happy these students who inspite of their busy schedules have found time to do this event for us. It’s also very rare for a specific batch to come forward and take such initiatives”. Ms. MohiniPowar, MsVrushali Mohite, Ms Rekha Shirolkar, Ms. Nutan Mahimkar, Ms. Visha Lakshmi are amongst the 12 teachers who will be felicitated. The team also visited Pune to honour one senior teacher who won’t be able to attend the function due to heath concerns.
“All the students who are now in their late 40’s or so are placed at senior positions in different companies, some are PhD’s, some are actors while some have taken inspiration and have turned teachers themselves”, sharedParinita Dhabholkar  an alumni of Versova Welfare Association.
