Young midfielder Choudhary keen to inspire Mumbai FC to victory
Mumbai, February 17: Mumbai FC’s young talented and enterprising midfielder Farukh Choudhary is determined to score goals, which help secure a win for his club when they clash with Bengaluru FC, in a 10th round I-League 2016-2017 match at the Cooperage ground, Mumbai on Saturday. The match kicks-off at 7.05 pm.
The Mumbai FC under-22 player Choudhary who was unlucky to see his brilliant diving effort crash into the upright in the goalless draw with Mohun Bagan early this week, is not thinking too much of that missed chance and instead is keen on scoring goals. “I need to score more goals and for that I have to capitalize on the opportunities and inspire our team to victory,” Choudhary said at the pre-match briefing on the eve of the game.
Choudhary is not overawed about playing against the defending champions. “Now, I have played against most of the top teams like Mohun Bagan and East Bengal and have had a good performance in both games. I am a bit nervous, but I have gained in confidence and certain to do well tomorrow,” Choudhray said boldly.
Meanwhile, Mumbai FC head coach Santosh Kashyap is confident of another good performance from his team. “I am extremely satisfied with the recent performances. We are improving and the combination is falling place and we hope to progress with the same form for the rest of the year,” said a confident Kashyap.
Kashyap is likely to retain the same squad which played the last round. “We have no recent injury worries and all those who played in the last game are available and I will most likely stick to the same combination,” Kashyap stated.
The dapper coach Kashyap was also praise for his new signing Brazilian Alex Silva. “Alex is a fantastic player, who is skill and can play as an attacking midfielder and also as a striker. He was exceptional in his first game and I expect a big contribution from him,” Kashyap mentioned.
The Mumbai coach once again asked the ‘Yellow Brigade’ to come in large numbers and support them. “This is our home game and we enjoy a psychological edge, we require the support of our fans to come and give the players the encouragement for this crucial encounter,” requested Kashyap.
Mumbai FC are unbeaten against the Bengaluru on this ground.
Having played nine games, Mumbai FC are currently in eighth spot with seven points earned from the goalless draw with Mohun Bagan this week and the opening two wins against DSK Shivajians (1-0 at home) and Churchill Brothers (2-1 away). Bengaluru are placed in fifth position with 12 points from eight games.
