Top seeds Saroj, Arpita cruise into semi-finals
Mumbai, January 17: The top two seeds, Saroj Sawant of Ratnagiri District and Arpita Jhaveri of Greater Mumbai District comfortably sailed into the women’s 50+ singles semi-finals of the Badminton 45 Senior State Veterans Badminton Selection Tournament – 2018, conducted by the Maharashtra Badminton Association and hosted by the Bombay Gymkhana.
In quarter-final matches, Sawant had things much her own way as she sidelined Sushma Thakore of Mumbai Suburbs coasting to a 21-3, 21-4 victory, while Arpita also dominated her match defeating Clare Young of Mumbai Suburbs, winning in straight games at 21-8, 21-3.
In other quarter-final encounters, Mumbai Suburbs Surekha Satam tamed Greater Mumbai’s Renu Mehta 21-6 21-10 and Balvinder Sapra also from Mumbai Suburbs outplayed Thane Districts Cicily John 21-3 21-0.
