Isn’t it extremely easy to sit behind a keyboard and body-shame someone or pass racist comments? But have you ever thought how the person being trolled feels about the nasty and inappropriate comments? Or what their family and friends go through when they read those inflammatory remarks? RJ Mallishka who is known for expressing her strong opinions will be seen coming face-to-face with her troll in the upcoming episode of MTV Troll Police.
Mallishka had recently made a parody on potholes in Mumbai and faced a lot of backlash for the same. While a lot of people came out in support of Mallishka for her stance and opinion, it did not go down well with a few and was trolled on social media. Out of the people who trolled her, a renowned fitness influencer and gym trainer made personal jibes and body- shamed Mallishka and called her names. This fitness enthusiast went on to the extent of creating a fake profile to troll Mallishka.
Commenting on the issue of trolling, RJ Mallishka said “There is constructive criticism and then there’s trolling. Some people have mixed the meaning on purpose and some people are plain unaware that spreading negativity is unhealthy for both the trolled and the troll. We need to realize where the lines blur between expressing one's view and being derogatory, calling people names and body shaming. Though I feel very often that it does not bother me, it does. Nobody likes to wake up worrying about what filth they will receive on social media just because they are public figures that too very often, by faceless, nameless cowards. I'm all for freedom of speech but that doesn't mean you mock and pull someone down. We need to understand that constantly sharing negative comments can impact someone mentally and it could result in losing their confidence. With MTV Troll Police, I hope we are able to educate the youth to find smarter, more positive ways to communicate their point of view.”
Will the unmasking of the troll with Mallishka bring a change in the troll’s behavior? Will he apologize or continue to maintain his distasteful behavior?
