2” - PARO ANAND’S LATEST GRAPHIC NOVEL  LAUNCHED AT THE SWEDISH AMBASSADOR’S HOUSE
The Author Paro Anand launched her latest graphic novel titled “2”on the 17th of November at the Swedish Ambassador’s house. Written by Paro Anand and Swedish author Örjan Persson, it is a one-of-a-kind young-adult graphic novel. “2” is the story of an Indian boy, Ganga, and a Swedish girl, Helga, and how the pair meet on their maiden visit to Goa. Diversity is the name of the game, right from the creators to the characters. The story plot revolves around topics of bullying and finding strength in one selves and how these two characters help each other out.
Her work has been recognized locally as well as internationally. She headed the National Centre for Children’s Literature, has interacted with over 3 lakh people, primarily, children in difficult circumstances, and runs a programme, Literature in ActionBBC Hindi, selected her on their #100Women Project – A project highlighting the challenges and achievements of women in India.
Few of her books were banned from schools as they spoke about hard hitting topics. Considering the changing times, it’s important for children to know about heartache, anger issues, sex, children in Kashmir, domestic violence etc and Paro Anand tries to do so through her books. Kids are learning about myths and fairytales in books, but they also need to be encouraged to learn about real issues.
