This year's awards were announced on 12th November at a well-attended function held in the premises of Broadcasting House at Delhi to mark the day .Every year 12th November is celebrated as Public Service Broadcasting Day to commemorate the only visit of Mahatma Gandhi to the studio of All India Radio, Delhi in 1947. The Father of the Nation addressed the displaced people, who had temporarily settled at Kurukshetra in Haryana after partition.
The award in the category "Public Service Broadcasting", has been fetched by All India Radio, Jammu for the Documentary Feature "SHANTIDOOT - RADIO" (RADIO-THE MESSENGER OF PEACE) , based on the role of radio in communicating factual information about the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A and the assured benefits which are to flow to the common citizens. In the category "Gandhian Philosophy" the award went to AIR Shimla for the documentary "SAMJHAUTA". Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Amit Khare announced the winners of Gandhian Philosophy and Public Service Broadcasting Awards. "SHANTIDOOT-RADIO" is the Production of accomplished broadcaster and Programme Executive, All India Radio Jammu, Sanjeev Sharma. It was written by Anjana Badyal, Prog. Executive with Rajesh Gupta, Prog. Executive as team member while Announcer Madhvi Sharma and Sanjeev Sharma rendered their Voices to the Documentary.
