Mumbai, November 2: A strong field, which includes 33 FIDE rated players, will be fighting it out for the top honours in the 5th edition of SBI Life All Maharashtra FIDE Rating Chess Tournament, conducted by the Indian Chess School at Cultural Centre of Russia, Peddar Road, Mumbai fromSaturday, November 4 to 12, 2017. National ‘B’ champion and FIDE Master, Sajandas Joshi with a rating of 2120 points, is the top seed of this 9-day event.
The prize pool for the tournament is Rupees one lakh with a first prize of Rs.25,000 and the Chairman's Trophy by SBI Life. In addition, a total of 24 medals would also be awarded to the age-category winners.
The tournament is being held under the aegis of All India Chess Federation and it would be played on a 9-round Swiss League basis as per FIDE rules with a time-control of 90 minutes + 60 seconds/player. The performance of the players would be taken into account by FIDE (World Chess Federation) to determine their FIDE ratings.
