Mahanagar Gas Limited Q2FY17 Net Profit up 10.28% to Rs. 102.25 Crores from Q1FY17 Rs. 92.73 Crores


Mumbai, India, November 29, 2016: Mahanagar Gas Limited (BSE: 539957, NSE:  MGL), today announced its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2016.
The Company has adopted Indian Accounting Standards (“Ind AS”) from 1 April, 2016 and the financial results for this quarter and the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year have been prepared in accordance with the same.
Key Financial Highlights
Q2 FY 2016-17 (As per Ind-AS)
Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has reported a 10.28% increase in its Profit After Tax of Rs.102.25 crores for the quarter ended Sep, 2016, compared to Rs.92.73 crores for the quarter ended 30 June, 2016.
The Company has recorded overall volume growth of 4.04%, consisting of a growth of 5.13% in its CNG volumes and a 5.35% growth in PNG volumes. The EBITDA margin has improved to 31.01% as compared with 31.51% in the previous quarter. 
Sales/ Income from operations is reported at Rs.518.06 crores as compared with Rs.480.01 crores, consisting of increase in CNG by 8.81% to Rs.375.91 crores from Rs.345.46 crores and increase in PNG by 5.69% to Rs.141.65 crores from Rs.134.02 crores. The increase in sales is mainly due to increase in customers.
Commenting on the results, Mr. Rajeev Mathur, Managing Director, said, “We are extremely happy to report an all- round progress in terms of sales volumes, profits and earnings per share. Among other things, additions to an increased customer base and a reduction in gas costs has helped us achieve an improvement in our financial performance as compared to the previous quarter of this financial year.”
