From playing a gay character to a misogynistic rapper, actor Manraj Singh dons a new hat on MTV Big F Season 2

Actor Manraj Singh will be seen donning a new avatar in the upcoming episode of MTV Big F Season 2. Having played a gay character for one of his web series, this is going to be a refreshing change for the viewers to see him play a different role of a misogynistic celebrity rapper, Jaspal or “Twada Apna Jassie” on MTV Big F.

The upcoming episode of MTV Big F revolves around a young and witty standup comedian, Kavya, played by Ayesha Adlakha, who is known for trashing misogynistic attitude of men and their insecurities about intelligent and smart women. Kavya is particularly enraged by hip hop rappers who objectify women through their music videos and their trashy lyrics, especially rapper Jaspal, played by Manraj Singh. However, things take a turn when she falls head over heels for Jaspal. She is encouraged to be a part of a roast where she jokes about his music and enraged by this Jaspal’s fan club trolls Kavya online. Will Kavya be able to change Jaspal’s perception of women? 

Commenting on playing a rapper, Manraj said, “I will be playing the role of a rapper, Jaspal on MTV Big F. I like how I am getting to experiment with the kind of roles I am being offered as an artiste. From playing a homosexual character to this brash rapper who is known to objectify women in his rap songs. His perception of women and his misogynistic attitude towards them is unacceptable. Through this episode I really want to convey that we need to stop trivializing women and their opinions. It is extremely upsetting to see that when it comes to voicing dissent, women are verbally beaten into silence. Moreover , it's absolutely horrific and unacceptable when a woman receives troll messages and rape threats for exercising her 'freedom of expression'. This really needs to change.”
