Jr Boys team fare well on day 1 of Thailand Open
Mumbai: The Indian ‘A’ teams had quite a good outing in the Junior Boy’s Team Group event of the SET 2017 Thailand Junior&Cadet Open, and ITTF World Junior Circuit Golden Series tournament, which commenced in Bangkok on Wednesday.
The Indian ‘A’ team comprising of Parth Virmani, Vikash Thakkar and Utpalbhai Shah easily defeated Qatar and Thailand ‘B’ teams by convincing 3-0 margins in Group-C league matches. They finished in pole position.
The India 'B' team consisting of Jeet Chandra, Snehit Suravajjula and Payas Jain were not as successful, having won one match and lost the second. They beat the Mixed Team (Australia-Kazakhstan-Sweden) 3-0 but lost 2-3 to Thailand ‘A’ and were placed second in Group-B.
Results - Junior Boys Team Group: India ‘B’ beat Mixed Team (Australia-Kazakhstan-Sweden) 3-0; India ‘A’ bt Qatar 3-0; India ‘B’ lost to Thailand ‘A’ 2-3; India A’ bt Thailand ‘B’ 3-0.
Junior Girls Team Group: India lost to Japan 0-3; India lost to Thailand ‘A’ 0-3
Cadet Boys Team Group: India bt Iri-SGP 3-0; India lost to Thailand ‘A’ 1-3; Indian ‘B’ bt Sweden ‘B’ 3-0; India A lost to Singapore A 3-2
Cadet Girs Team Group: India bt Thailand ‘B’ 3-1; India lost to Singapore ‘A’ 0-3
