As a part of ‘Bachchan Bemisaal Poore 75 Saal’ celebrating legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan’s 75th birthday, Zee Classic with its proposition Woh Zamana Kare Deewana, has commissioned a special larger-than-life mural on a building in Bandra, Mumbai. The mural, undoubtedly the largest in the country, clocking in an area over 230 feet high and 30 feet wide, has been painted by acclaimed artist Ranjit Dahiya from the Bollywood Art Project.
Portraying the iconic image of Amitabh Bachchan’s angry young man persona from Deewar, this mural celebrates art in its true form. Capturing Amitabh Bachchan’s intense eyes and look in a jaw-dropping painting, Ranjit Dahiya’s epic creation is clearly visible from Mumbai’s popular Bandra-Worli Sea Link.
Commenting on the mural, artist Ranjit Dahiya said, “Mumbai is a Bollywood city but that is not obvious to those who visit this place. I have always wanted to make more murals of Bollywood celebrities and this was my chance. Zee Classic approached me saying that they wanted to do something different for Amitabhji’s 75th birthday and the plan was to make a larger than life mural as a gift to the superstar. We found this building which can be viewed from the sea-link and thought there would be no better place than this. ”
Ranjit Dahiya also shared why he chose the iconic Deewar character, he says, “I wanted the world to always remember the character of the angry young man he portrayed in the movie. His persona was such that he should be remembered for generations to come.”
