Gifted is a story about an intellectually gifted child, Mary, who becomes the subject of a custody battle between her loving uncle, who wants her to live a normal life and a grandmother, who wants her to be in a school for gifted children.
The talented Chris Evans plays the role of Frank who is a single parent to his spirited young niece, Mary played by the very promising McKenna Grace. On the first day of school, Mary shows an exceptional mathematical talent which is recognized by her teacher and principal and want her to enroll in a gifted school. Frank, however, rejects the idea since he wants Mary to have a normal childhood that his sister also Mary’s mother, Diane, never got. The family had bad experiences with similar schools which ultimately led Diane to kill herself when Mary was only six months old.
