Model turned actor Aishwarya Sakhuja is busy these days shooting for Sony Sab’s comedy-thriller show, Trideviyaan. The much anticipated television series is scheduled to launch next week. In this candid chat, the actor talks about key elements that interested her to take up the show, her character and preparation to pull off hardcore action scenes. Excerpts from the interview:
How did Trideviyaan happen to you?
I was called in for an audition. I read and tried to understand the character deeply and made myself believe that I am Dhanushree Chauhan. I did not want to miss the opportunity of being a part of such an interesting plot.
Tell us about your character and the plot of the show.
Dhanushree Chauhan is someone who always spreads love, never upsets anyone and is full of positivity. She is the perfect Bahu. But there’s a different side to her personality and it will be sketched out brilliantly when she portrays the role of a secret agent. Trideviyaan also gives Dhanushree to be funny and time and again tickle audience’s funny bone.
Trideviyaan is about three girls (Shalini Sahuta, Aishwarya Sakhuja and Samaira Rao) and one man, Rituraj Singh (Himalaya – our father-in-law) who form a team of undercover agents. The story showcases how all of us have dedicated our lives for the service of our nation and to catch Don Gamosha. It is because of Gamosha that agent Himalaya had to quit his job and also a lot of ruckus created in the country. It’s a personal vendetta, apart from being just patriotic.
Did you undergo any kind of preparation to play the character?
I had joined martial arts classes. Apart from that, I have also learnt to ride bikes because it’s essential for my character. The action scenes in the show demanded the preparation. Also, since Dhanushree is very adorable just like the women in all Rajshri films, I have taken references from their films. I observed Renuka Shahane in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Himani Shivpuri in Hum Saath Saath Hain. I assessed how they portrayed their character in such a positive light. I am sure it will help me portray my role.
How comfortable are you doing action scenes?
I enjoy performing action more than watching it. And the team of Trideviyaan is extremely particular about safety so I would be fearless while performing the stunts. We will also have action masters on the set to guide us and take all the necessary precautions.
How challenging it is to portray a traditional Indian bahu and a secret agent simultaneously?
Honestly, it wasn’t very challenging. Doing stunts, adventure and action packed sequences comes very naturally to me. Being a bahu, I thought it will require me to put in a lot of effort. But it’s something that comes very effortlessly for me as this character is also funny. It’s a beautifully written character.
Trideviyaan also demands you to be fit. Share your fitness regime with us.
The character is such that she needs to be fit but not size zero. Apart from performing action as a secret agent, Dhanushree is also the badi bahu of the family. I am into stretching, aerobics, martial arts, running and swimming. It’s a mix for me. I don’t let my body get used to one thing.
‘Trideviyaan’ will premiere from 15th November 2016, Monday – Friday at 9.30pmonly on Sony SAB!
