Crafts Bazaar Weekend at the Piramal Museum of Art

Fun-filled weekend of Crafts Bazaar at the Piramal Museum of Art, from 8th to 9th September.
Keeping in line with its current exhibit ‘Nature to Culture: Crafts of India,’ the crafts bazaar will feature indigenous and rare crafts of India and highlight their history, culture and heritage.
Artisans from across different parts of India, will be demonstrating their skills through workshops, giving people the opportunity to familiarise with a host of traditional Indian crafts. Various artifacts by the craftsmen will also be on sale.
Nature to Culture exhibit
The larger concept behind the Crafts Bazaar is to showcase the story of traditional crafts from different parts of India, that are on the verge of dying out.
Like the Piramal Art Foundation’s goal to preserve artistic heritage of modern and contemporary Indian art, the Nature to Culture: Crafts of India exhibit is celebrating the cultural heritage and diversity of crafts that are traditional to India.
The guided workshops feature the following crafts - Cherial dolls/masks from Telangana, Namda from Kashmir, Roghan from Kutch region, etc.
About Piramal Museum of Art
The Piramal Art Foundation was founded in 2014 by Mr. Ajay Piramal and his family. The aim of this foundation is to preserve the artistic heritage of modern & contemporary Indian art. The foundation will undertake the collection, preservation and documentation of artworks for public display as well as for research and education.
 As part of the Piramal Art Foundation, the Piramal Museum of Art was launched in November 2015. The museum has surveyed over 300 years of Indian art with a focus on Modern Indian Art. It also displayed 40 to 50 artworks, which has included work from renowned artists such as Akbar Padamsee, Hemendranath Mazumdar, Gaganendranath Tagore, Jehangir Sabavala, Bikash Bhattacharjee, K.G.Subramanyan and many such artists.
Piramal Museum of Art is Mumbai's first private museum for Indian Art. Located in the heart of Mumbai, the museum is open to public and entry is free  (Mon-Fri, 11 am to 8 pm and Sat-Sun, 10 am to 10pm)
Previous collections include discussions and exhibits of painted artworks, exhibits, sculptures and installations, from a host of noted artists such as S.H. Raza, F.N. Souza, Raja Ravi Varma, have been on display at the museum; showcasing the historical backdrop of Indian modern art.
