Mumbai, Sept 14, 2017: It is believed that the sacred bond of marriage is made in heaven and solemnised on earth. But what if this holy bond is crafted for a political gain? Will such a marriage make way for a war or will flourish to evoke feelings of love? Presenting a fresh take on one such marriage, &TV is all set to launch ‘Half Marriage’. Tracing the lives of Arjun (Tarun Mahilani) and Chandini (Priyanka Purohit), Half Marriage explores an unusual marital bond born out of political influence and cultural beliefs. Produced and conceptualised by Kavita Barjatya and Kaushik Ghatak of Conscious Dreams, Half Marriage will redefine the popular phrase - Everything Is Fair In Love and War to Everything Is Fair In Hate And Politics starting September 25th 2017, every Monday to Friday at 7:30 PM on &TV.
Set against the culturally rich landscape of Kanpur, Half Marriage recounts the entangled story of starkly different personalities - Arjun, a middle-class boy who often gets into trouble due to his righteous behaviour and Chandni, born to a rich politician who has immense love and respect for her father Vanraj Kanojia (Satyajit Sharma). While Arjun fights against the injustice that prevails in the political scenario, Chandini contends a war against the one tarnishing her father’s image. As the story progresses, the two develop immense hatred towards each other and Vanraj Kanojia’s political aspirations lead to plotting of this forced marriage. What follows next is Arjun and Chandni’s dilemma to stay married and for the audience to witness …yeh shaadi jung layegi…yeh shaadi rang layegi!
Talking about his multi-dimensional character of Vanraj, Satyajit Sharma said, “The concept of forced marriage is something we all are familiar with, and Half Marriage presents a fresh and intriguing take on the issue with a strong narrative. I am playing the character of a rich politician, Vanraj who is a shrewd politician for the world but is the world’s best father for his daughter.”
Commenting on portraying Arjun’s character, Tarun Mahilani said, “Half Marriage highlights the harsh reality of forced marriages. As an artist, I always thrive to play a challenging role and I am glad that I got the opportunity to portray Arjun and be part of such an unusual concept. Arjun is a righteous man with a socialist streak, his values will be challenged as he is forcefully married to a rich politician’s daughter - Chandni.”
Adding further, Priyanka Purohit, essaying the role of Chandni, said, “Born with a silver spoon, Chandini looks up to her father as a godlike figure who cannot do any wrong. Her life is a big illusion surrounded by fake relations that change as she is married to a middle-class boy Arjun. With Half Marriage, I kick start my acting career as a lead with such a unique concept and I look forward t0 a great association with &TV .”
Half Marriage features a stellar line-up of artists who will be joining Satyajit Sharma, Tarun Mahilani and Priyanka Purohit narrate this saga of hate and politics.
