The need for collective and sustained effort by all stake holders besides Govt. to promote rich Kashmiri Culture and Language was highlighted at One Day 39th Annual Conference of State's prominent literary organization Adbee Markaz Kamraz at Tagore Hall, Srinagar today. A large number of writers, poets, intellectuals, politicians, public administrators and civil society representatives attended the day long deliberations of the conference. Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai was chief guest in the inaugural session which was presided over by noted writer Mohammad Yousuf Taing. Vice Chancellor Islamic University of Science and Technology Prof. Mushtaq Sidiqi was guest of honour. The theme paper of the conference was presented by prominent writer and historian Prof. Farooq Fayaz on the topic "Changing cultural scenario in Kashmir – apprehensions and possibilities".
Adohossing the gathering Khurshid Ahmad Ganai lauded the effort of Adbee Markaz Kamraz in bringing stake holders together to deliberate upon on issues of vital importance. He said voluntary collective efforts from within the society can play much potent role in preservation and promotion of our cultural ethos in which language plays pivotal role. He gave instant instructions to the Director School Education Kashmir who was present in the conference to ensure that the order issued regarding teaching Kashmiri as a compulsory subject in class 9th and 10th is implemented in letter and spirit. In this connection he was advised to put up a note as early as possible. He also assured to look into the demand of setting up an art gallery in Srinagar. In his presidential address M. Y. Taing raised the demand of classical language status for Kashmiri language as it is one of the most ancient language of Indian sub-continent .
During the conference prominent writer and cultural activist Dr. Aziz Hajini was felicitated with Sharf – e – Kamraz 2018 for his multi dimensional contribution in the promotion of Kashmiri language and literature. Several other personalities and Sopore based Women organization Majlis ul Nisa was also awarded during the conference. They included KAS officer Dr Asgar Hussain Samoon, prominent religious preacher Moulana Ghulam Rasool Hami. The award ceremony was presided by retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi. While as Dr Altaf Hussain ,Dr Rafeeq Masoodi former Secreatery JKAACL & DD ,Basharat Bukhari Former minister MLA sangrama and brother of Late Dr.Shujaat bukhari & President AMK were among legends who shared the dice to honor Awardees were also in the presidium. Conference ended with a literary session which was presided by veteran writer and broadcaster A. K. Rehbar. Ghazal presented by Shabnam Gulzar was reviewed by Rafiq Raaz while a short story presented by Majid Majazi was reviewed by Mushtaq Ahmad Mushtaq.Among others Professor Rehman Rahi, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Prof. Meraj Ud Din, VC CUK, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Mohammad Shafi Pandit, Prof. Neerja Matto, Engineer Rasheed, Mohammad Salim, Beigh, Zareef Ahmad Zareef, Rajesh Koul, Shantiveer Koul, Roop Krishen Bhat and Mushtaq Muntazir were present among the jam packed Tagore Hall in kashmir.
