SAMPARC Heritage Walk 2017

Mr. Amitkumar Banerjee, a Bengali from Bankura District of West Bengal, presently habitant of village- Bhaje, near Lonavala, Dist. Pune, Maharashtra, organising SAMPARC Heritage Walk, which has been initiated in the year 2016 by SAMPARC NGO, websitewww.samparc.org.

SAMPARC a child development organisation exists in the footstep of famous Bhaje caves. The place is really very attractive not only from historical but also from archeological point of view and surrounded by Bhaje Caves, Lohagad Fort, Visapur Fort and Bedse Caves, Karla Caves.

On 27th Nov 2016, SAMPARC conducted first Heritage Walk, where about 3000 people of different age groups and different social stature including a handful of corporate and also foreign participants participated to feel the presence of 2000 years old Buddhist Caves and Forts and to support the noble cause. To make it more interesting by contributing traditional folk culture, 10 cultural events and 6 types of Maharashtrian traditional food were presented in the walk of total 7.2 km. The prominent corporate were Sandvik Asia Pvt. Ltd., Volkswagen, IDBI, SBI, Honeywell, WNS and NSB to name a few. About 600 students also participated in the walk.

This year it will be conducted on 10th Dec 2017 with the expectation of 10000 Heritage lovers to participate for the walk and to witness folk dances and enjoy Maharashtrian delicacies.

The objective

1. To create awareness about Bhaje Caves, Lohagad Fort and Visapur Fort and also Karla and Bedse Caves. To ensure better care and management of the Heritage Monuments and ultimately to persuade concerned authority from our Government and to other concerned authorities to process for enlistment of the above Historical Heritage Property in UNESCO World Heritage List.
2. Invite you to participate in SAMPARC Heritage Walk 2017 to be held on 10th Dec. 2017. We are writing in advance to get support from Archeological Survey of India to present suitable documents of the Heritage Monuments to the participants.
3. Guidance from your end for our effort and to strengthen care and preservation of the Monuments.
4. To organize the walk for the cause of underprivileged children.
5. To accelerate tourism opportunity and enhancing income opportunity for the local villagers.
