AIR Jammu organized Lecture on “Dogra Sanskriti AurJaiv-Vividhata”





Third  in the series of lectures, a lecture on the topic, "Dogra Sanskriti Aur Jaiv-Vividhata", was organised by All India Radio Jammu, before invited audience on 28th  February 2020  at K.L. Sehgal Hall, Jammu on the occasion of National Science Day. The lecture was delivered by Shri Om Prakash Sharma 'Vidyarthi', noted poet, writer, scientist and environmentalist.

The event highlighted the rich biodiversity of Jammu region and threw light on the fact that how  cultural diversity in any landscape , ecosystem has intimate relation with Biodiversity . Local communities have holistic understanding of the neighborhood bioresources ,habitats ,water bodies ,forests ,trees ,birds ,soils and to have  conservation of resources ,practice sustainable utilization and adore knowledge of forefathers in the cultural moorings having evolved local customs ,religious practices ,created folk stories ,folk songs ,myths ,proverbs ,local language vocabulary for different kinds of life forms collectively referred as Biodiversity.  While deliberating on the subject, Sh. Vidyarthi explained the fact that  cultural evolution has progressed hand in hand with understanding & interpretation of nature including Biodiversity. He stressed that traditional wisdom and modern scientific outlook need to strengthen conservation of ethnic cultural diversity as well as local Biodiversity for future prosperity ,food security and well being of communities living in any landscape. 

Sh. Satish Malhotra, Programme Head, Akashvani Jammu, welcomed the honoured speaker and esteemed guests and dwelled upon the role of Radio as repository of Cultural Heritage of Jammu, since its inception.Smt. Renu Raina, Prog. Executive, thanked the speaker and all those present in today's event. 

Prominent personalities attended include Sh. Khlid Hussain, eminent Punjabi writer, Sh. Subhash Chander Sharma, Ex-Sr.Forest Officer,Sh. Lalit Gupta, eminent Historian, Sh. Chander Mohan Sharma, Ex-Joint Director Agriculture, Sh Arvinder Aman, Addl. Secy. JKACL, , Sh. Javed Rahi, Chief Editor, JKACL,  environmentalists, students and nature lovers. They appreciated the effort of disseminating information about preserving and encouraging the rich biodiversity of Jammu region. Sh. Bachan Lal, Sh.K.K.Lidhoo, Ms. Anjana Badyal, Sh. Pawan Khajuria, Sh. Rakesh Sathu and  Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Programme Executives , AIR Jammu and Sh. Hassan Perwaz, Sh. Shiv Mohan Sharma,  Announcers, Sh. Sami Feroz were also present on the occassion  . The whole event was conceived and co-ordinated by Shri Sanjeev Sharma, Prog. Executive and incharge of these series of lectures being organised by All India Radio Jammu.  Sh. Ravi kant Sharma, Announcer, ably handled the stage proceedings. The event was technically supported by Sh. Vikas Madan and Sh. Ravinder Singh, Engineers AIR Jammu.  The Lecture was part of series of programmes  under "Special Programming for Stations in J&K" .
