As part of its pre-launch promotional drive for the start of operations of its flight from Delhi to Madrid from December 1, 2016, Air India organized a Football Futsal event at the Air India Colony Sports ground in Mumbai on November 19, 2016. Around 16 teams from leading travel agencies in Mumbai such as Akbar Travels, Riya Travels, Cox & Kings, Thomas Cook, American Express, Veena World, SOTC, Balmer Lawrie and others along with teams from Air India participated in the football matches which saw a healthy competition among all the teams.Mr. Ignacio Ducasse Gutierrez Director, Spain Tourism, Mumbai kicked off the first match at 1300 hrs. During an informal interaction at the event, Mr. Ducasse said that ‘Spain has a lot to offer in terms of great diversity, culture, heritage, art and a vibrant lifestyle. It has a lot of tourist attractions for those who would like to visit the country for a wonderful holiday. Air India officials added that, ‘the introduction of this flight along with attractive return promotional fares, convenient timings and seamless connections will enable travellers to fly on the national carrier with all comfort.
Air India flight AI 135 from Delhi to Madrid will operate with the Boeing Dreamliner aircraft thrice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flight will depart from Delhi at 14:25 hrs and reach Madrid at 20:20 hrs local time. On the return journey it will depart from Madrid at 21:50 hrs and arrive in Delhi at 11:10 hrs the next day. This is the 9th destination in Europe on Air India’s network.
Besides the new flight on the European sector, Air India has also increased the frequency of its Delhi - San Francisco flight to six days a week from November 21, 2016.
