Mumbai, August 23, 2017: India’s BIG Travelling Film Festival, the Jagran Film Festival that toured 16 cities will conclude in Mumbai. The Festival began on 1st July, 2017 will conduct its last leg in Cinepolis, Andheri. Over 130 screenings will take place showcasing a stellar a line-up of films from across the world. Some of the prominent sections of the Festival are World Panorama, Indian Showcase, Jagran Shorts, Jagran Discovery, Country Focus and the Retrospective of films.
The 2017 edition of Jagran Film Festival has traversed from Delhi to the Indian hinterlands of Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Dehradun, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bhopal, Indore, Hisar, Ludhiana, Meerut, Raipur, and will now culminate in Mumbai.
This year’s will hold ‘Knowledge Series’ of the Festival. It is an inception of various workshop aka presentations on acting in alliance with Barry John Acting Studio. Another special segment at the Festival is ‘The Achievers’ which represents a variety of talent from different backgrounds and all walks of life who are also eminent personalities in the film industry today. Their special talent and effort are the subject of films to be showcased through ‘The Achievers’. It presents 10 biopics on sports, social and business leaders across the globe.
The Jagran will be screening World Cinemas featuring from Turkey, India, Greece, US, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Morocco, Spain, Sri Lanka, Czech and more.
The festival will screen quite a few Arabic movies like Androman Blood and coal, Death for Sale, Love in the Medina and The Letterbox - a Turkish movie and a French-Arabic one called The Narrow Frame of Midnight. One cannot miss Last Christmas & a feature length anthology film shot in underground of Naples called the Napoli Underground.The Social Network (2010) is one of the english movies that has been acclaimed for best adapted screenplay will be screening along with others in Auditorium 1.
Indian Cinemas will showcase movies in its various languages Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Bengali , Malayalam and a Short feature from Brazil - India has no name will be a part of the tribute in the category of short documentaries. Auditorium 3 will showcase Kannada movies like Amraawati, Rama Rama re and Bengali movies - Messi and Posto, Chandras Chor a Marathi film and many more.
More of the recent Hindi mainstream movies that will screen include Hindi Medium, Pink, The Ghazi Attack, Phillauri, Jolly LLB 2 Shivaay and biopic movies like Sachin - a billion dreams , MS Dhoni - the untold story and Neerja. Retro movies playing tribute to the Kapoors will feature Mera Naam Joker and Bobby and one of the evergreen movies Chandni by Yash Chopra will be screened in auditorium 2. A Memory in Three Act from Mozambique and a short documentary from Bosnia and Herzegovina - From the Edge of Sanity in Arabic encompass a wide panorama of world and Indian film flavours.
Jagran Shorts segment will feature films like Hiccups, Sonnet 88, Flow, Burn out, Ramble and many more coming from Argentia Iraq, Finalnd , Hungary, US, Hong Kong among others. Azaad, Kajal (Kohl) an Indian Debut short film and Chutney that went viral on the Indian Social Media will also be part of the Jagran Shorts from India.
