Football Leaders, Indian Rush register facile victories
Mumbai: Football Leaders Academy and Indian Rush SC, both had things much their own way as they scored  easy wins in their respective opening round of matches in the pre-qualifying round (Maharashtra leg), of the IWL (Indian Women’s League), at the Cooperage ground.
Powered by hat-tricks from Shimona Saldanha and Reshmi Kumari, Football Leaders outplayed Kenkre FC winning by a convincing 9-0 margin. Tara Khatoon, Amrita Kumari and Priya Tiwari chipped in with the other three goals for the victors. Kenkre reduced the margin through Manisha’s lone strike.
Indian Rush were also dominant and romped to a 5-0 win against PIFA SC. Deepika Singh and Jyoti Kumar, both struck a brace of goals while Nisha Singh added one to complete the margin of victory.
In another match, Football School of India overcame Bodyline SC 2-0. Jyoti Mehra and Afreen Peerbhoy were pon target with a goal each for the winning side.
The Pre-Qualifiers League, to be organised by WIFA, will be played on a double leg basis and the winners’ will get a direct entry to the qualifying round, which is scheduled to be held later next month.
Results: Football Leaders Academy 9 (Shimona Saldanha 3, Reshmi Kumari 3, Tara Khatoon, Amrita Kumari, Priya Tiwari) beat Kenkre FC 1 (Manisha).
Football School of India 2 (Jyoti Mehra, Afreen Peerbhoy) beat Bodyline SC 0.
Indian Rush SC 5 (Deepika Singh 2, Jyoti Kumar 2, Nisha Singh) beat PIFA SC 0.
