Namrata slams four in Mumbai’s emphatic win
Mumbai, April 22: Prolific striker Namrata Thakur was at her striking best scoring four goals in leading a charged up Mumbai District Football Association to a thumping 8-0 win against Sanglai DFA in a quarter-final match of the WIFA Inter-District Women Football Championship, hosted by the Nashik DFA on Sunday.
The dashing forward Namrata scored the opening three goals to provide Mumbai with a solid start. Khushboo Rathod scored one to give Mumbai a 4-0 half-time lead. In the second period Namrata added one more goal to her tally, while teammates Sambhui Ninsheng, Snehal Manchkar and Kashmira Pednekar chipped in with one each to round off the winning tally.
Pune DFA also enjoyed an easy passage to the semi-finals by defeating Osmanabad DFA 4-0. For Pune the goals came through a brace of goals from Abhilasha Mehra and one each from Hiba Faquih, and Muriel Adam.
In other quarter-final encounters, Kolhapur DFA overcame Gondia DFA by a narrow 2-1 margin and Nagpur DFA got the better of Nashik DFA by a 4-1 margin via the tie-breaker after the match finished in a goalless draw.
Results – quarter-finals: Nagpur DFA 4 (Nirmala Dhurve, Harsha Yadav, Riya Sukhdre, Shraddha Yadav) beat Nashik DFA 1 (Rutuja Aher) via the tie-breaker. Full time: 0-0.
Kolhapur DFA 2 (Poornima Sule, Mrunal Khot) beat Gondia DFA 1 (Archana Bhalachandra).
