Zee Classic to air Sunny Deol’s classic action film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha on Sunday, 22ndApril at 12 noon

A timeless love story that transcends borders, religion and war, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition in 1947. Zee Classic with its brand proposition ‘Woh Zamaana Kare Deewana’ presents this action packed drama starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead. Produced by Nitin Keni and directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha will air on Sunday, 22nd April 2018 at 12 noon.
Sakina (Ameesha Patel) misses her train to Pakistan while her family escapes during the riots after the partition. When she’s chased by a mob, Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) comes to her rescue and takes her home. Tara vows to protect her from the furious mob and decides to marry her to protect her honor, while Sakina’s life continues to remain in jeopardy. Sakina, initially struggles to accept Tara, but eventually falls in love with him. Years later when the couple is living together happily along with their son Jeet, Sakina discovers that her father Ashraf Ali (Amrish Puri), whom she presumed to be dead, has been appointed as the mayor of Pakistan through a newspaper article.
With music composed by Uttam Singh and lyrics written by Anand Bakshi, the songs take you back to the pre-independence era.  On one hand songs like ‘Main Nikla Gaddi Leke’ pep you up, songs like ‘Udd Ja Kale Kawan’ and ‘Hum Juda Ho Gaye’ pull at your heart strings.
Tara Singh and Sakina’s life undergoes a major twist when she visits Pakistan to meet her father. With Tara Singh and Jeet unable to join Sakina owing to visa issues, her father attempts to separate her from them.
Will Sakina give in to her father’s wishes? Will Tara Singh reach Pakistan in time to save his love?
