I am happy to inaugurate digital channel "BBMP Roshani", the digital terrestrial platform will beam e-learning sessions to schools and households within 70 kms raidius of Bengaluru. The project will act as a pilot for similar systems to be put in place in other parts of the State said H.D. Kumarswamy, Chief Minister of Karnataka in his inaugural address. In an initiative to upgrade education standards in 156 Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BBMP) Primary and Secondary schools, BBMP, Doordarshan, Microsoft in association with Tech Avant-Grade inaugurated "Project BBMP Roshani" to implement social schooling and 21st century learning in BBMP educational institutions in Bangalore city. The project was launched by CM of Karnataka at Ambedkar Bhavan, Bangalore. 
It is known fact that the Corporation schools are not at par with the private schools in the city. It is our dream to make these schools that efficient in three years. Students should opt for our school rather than the private schools said BBMP Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad in his welcome speech. 
Watching the digital channel on cellphones don't require an internet pack but students need to have DVB-T2 chip or dongle that is available in the market. Doordarshan is always extended their support to education and information and this is going to provide cost-effective quality education for children said Supriya Sahu, Director General, Doordarshan, Prasar Bharati, New Delhi in her Chief Guest address. 
Work on the project had already been started with schools being surveyed for the number of teachers, students and infrastructure, besides auditing of the teaching faculty. 21 century requires the redefining of education methodology imparted. The brick and mortal infrastructure of the past must give way to a futuristic, technology enriched one, where learning must be from any part of the world, on any device said Ali Sait, CEO, Tech Avant-Garde in his introductory address and he explained how it works to Hon. CM. R. Roshan Baig, MLA, Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyaya, ITS, Additional Director General of AIR & DD(SZ) S.G. Raveendra, BBMP Commissioner(Education and Marketing), Padmanabh Reddy, Opposition leader of Assembly and other dignitaries were presided over the function.
