" All India Radio Jammu organized impressive musical evening "SUR-BAHAAR" on 04th of March 2020 in which the niche audience of Jammu was mesmerized by the soulful performances at Abhinav Theatre. The concert was set into motion with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by dignitaries Addl. Commissioner, Income Tax, J&K Sh. S.K.Sharma, Dy. Director Information Sh. Rakesh Dubey accompanied by Head of Office AIR Jammu Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Prog. Head AIR Jammu Sh. S.K.Malhotra and Smt. Renu Raina, Prog. Executive. Sh. Rajesh Kumar DDG(E) also welcomed the audience and artists on behalf of Akashvani, Jammu. The audience was left spellbound as the renowned performers like Jitendra Singh, Minakshi Majumdar and V.K.Sambyal gave a clinical display of their talent in Ghazal , Light-Classical Music and Classical Music respectively in the concert that lasted for over two hours . The event began with fascinating vocal performance by son of soil V.K. Sambyal which came up with "Raag Kirvani" with bandish "Daras Dikhao Sunder Shyam" followed by "Brij Ko Chale Gopian Sangg Kanha" spreading true colours of Holi. This was followed by the presentation by melodious voice of Minakshi Majumdar, A-Grade artist of AIR Kolkata whose performances -"Thumri Tilang", "Koshik Dhuni Dadra", "Hori Mishr Pahadi", "Tappa" , "Jamuna Kinare Kaise Jaoon", " Kaise Kate Din Rattia Balam" left the audience spellbound. Last but not the least, son of soil and Top Grade artist of AIR Delhi , Ghazal Maestro Jitendra Singh who is one of the finest artist of the recent times ably justified the wordings penned down by the famous poet "Dikshit Dhankhori and "Nida Fazli". The artist enthralled the audience with his vibrant performances - "Chand Tare Na Yeh Rang-o-Bu Chahiye, Kuchh Khilone Nahin Mujhe Tu Chahiye", ''Apna Gham Le Ke Kahin Aur Na Jaya Jaye, Ghar Mein Bikhri Huee Cheezon Ko Sajaya Jaye " , "Meri Wafaayen Yaad Karoge…". Soulful performances by A Grade Tabla Player from Kolkata Vibhash Sanghai and Zakir Dholpuri on Harmonium from AIR Delhi captured the mood of audience. The audience swayed to the voices of the singers and longed for more as they finished their performances. The programme concluded with fascinating traditional "Hori" performance by Jitender Singh which received thundering applause of every single soul present in the house. The hall was witness to the presence of large number of music lovers cutting across cross section of society. Living up to the high traditions of presentation, AIR Jammu left no stone unturned for presentation of a truly professional concert. The proceedings of the Music Concert were ably conducted by Sr. Announcer Ms. Madhvi Sharma. The whole event was co-ordinated by Incharge Music Section Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Programme Executive and Sh. Sami Feroz. Sh. Vikas Madaan and Vinod Bhat , Engineers, AIR Jammu ably provided the technical support at the venue. The concert was part of series of programmes under "Special Programming for Stations in J&K" .
