Bureau of Indian Standards, New Delhi was organized an interactive Seminar recently in Mumbai on "Physical Security Products in Banks (PSP) & Other Institutions"
Addressing to the gathering Shri S K Dube, Chairman, Security Equipment Sectional Committee, MED 24 & General Manager (Tech),RBI, Mumbai said, conducting such seminar is a need of hour and Bureau of Indian Standard will play vital role to interact and clarify doubts of Industrialist and user representative. He also emphasized that BIS is a good platform for discussing the Standardization activity to augment the development of Indian Standards on security products in banks and other financial institutions and for review of the existing Standards on the same and update them in line with the latest advancements in manufacturing technology.
He also appreciated the efforts of Mechanical Engineering Department, BIS for organizing the seminar in Mumbai, as major stakeholders in the banking sector are based on Mumbai.
Shri B.V.S.N Rao, Deputy Director General (WR) BIS, was appreciated the efforts of BIS in making Indian Standards for banking sectors in security systems. He said important Standards are available on security equipments and requested all stake holders to study the Standards on security equipments and give views for making the required changes.
The seminar was attended by over 100 participants from various stake-holders such as banking and other financial institutions, manufacturers, testing agencies, BIS licensees, concerned Government departments, officers of BIS etc. Shri Dara E Byramjee, Executive Vice President of M/s Godrej Security Solutions was also present at function.

Indian Standards Institution (ISI) was changed to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) through an Act of Parliament in 1986. BIS has so far formulated more then18900 Indian Standards.
