Carol Gracias walks for MIT Institute of Design Fashion Students Collection GFS 2017

Pune experienced the biggest fashion show in recent times
29th May 2017 - Pune based premier design institute, MIT Institute of Design organized the Graduation Fashion Show 2017 at The Hyatt Regency, Viman Nagar, Pune. With this show, MIT ID introduced second cohort to the Fashion fraternity, showcasing 17 collections of aspiring designers. Every designers showcased their individual identity, putting their creativity and inspiration into practice.
The garments were meticulously handcrafted and have been in the making throughout the year, reflecting the high level of garmenting skills and design creativity. The wonderful collection of work amazed and inspired all students, parents, staffs, judges and renowned people from the world of fashion.
"This is a showcase of the students' talent and hard work; their opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have developed, which will enable them to succeed in their chosen fields”, said HOD of Fashion Department Alana Savant.
The ramp outfits were donned by notables from fashion industry- Radhika Bopaiah, Kingfisher Supermodel; Himangini Singh, Miss Asia Pacific World 2012; Parvathy Omnakuttan, Miss India 2008 and first runner-up at Miss World 2008; Deepa Chari, Mega Model; Carol Gracias,Supermodel; Sondi Barthwal, Model; Sarita Patel, Model/Actor; and Anita Kumar, Model. Sashaying the ramp, models displayed snazzy collection of designer clothes that reflects the vivacity and poise of today's woman. 
The collections were judged by fashion industries’ renowned personalities like Akhilesh Anand- CEO & Asia Head of Tropical Knits; Ritika Sachan- Head of Design and Business Development at Arvind Mills Ltd.; and Kshitij Kankaria- Mumbai based Fashion Stylist. They appreciated the fascinating designs and detailing of the collection. All of the range showcased in the show, gave off a youthful feel.
The beautiful collection showcased by students made it a challenging task for Judges. After much deliberation, the awards went to
·         Best Collection – Sanika Deo
·         Best Pattern Making/Garment Construction
·         Best Surface ornamentation – KrishnaMody
·         Best Menswear – Saloni Bhansoli
·         Best Complimentary Viable – Spurthi Gowda
·         Judges Choice – Ipsa Bajaj
·         Jury Appreciation award – Zeal Shah
Appreciating the efforts of designers, the Director- Prof. Dhimant Panchal said, “You may find many successful fashion designers, but studying fashion design from MIT Institute of Design give you an edge over others. The institute is committed to create professional designers to the industry.”  The MIT ID Graduation Fashion Show was rendezvous of glamour and style, of couture exuding confidence and a night that echoed the pulse of the city.
