Cricketer Murali Vijay and Actor Veera Attend Day Two of the Fifth Covelong Point Surf, Music & Yoga Festival 2017

Chennai, 26th August 2017: The penultimate day of the fifth edition of Covelong Point Surf, Music& Yoga Festival 2017 witnessed a well-built authority from surfers across category. Amidst sunny condition, 24 surfers from the Groms (Under 16), Novice( Under 12), Masters & Women (Local – All Age) cateogries sealed a spot in the finals scheduled to be heldtomorrow at the picturesque Covelong beach, Chennai. The three-day Covelong Point Surf, Music & Yoga Festival 2017, sanctioned by the Surfing Federation of India, is presented by the TT group and produced by the award winning production house- EarthSync. The second day of the surfing, music and yoga festival witnessed attendance from various celebrities including star cricketers Jonty Rhodes and local boy Murali Vijay, Kollywood actor Veera and Bollywood actor Kalki Koechlin.
The Penultimate day of the surfing competition consisted of the second round of the senior category, Semi-Final rounds of the Groms (Under 16), Novice (Under 12), Masters and Women (Local – All Age) categories and Round One of the Open Category. The Finals of all the competitions will be held tomorrow (27th August 2017). The day began on a highly competitive note as the round two of the Seniors Category was flagged off by Star Cricketer Murli Vijay who himself has started attending surf lessons at the Covelong Point Social Surf School. Sekar Patchai, Dharani Selvakumar, Mani Kandan, Srikrishna V, Vignesh V, Manimaran R, Satish Blu, Swapnil Bhinge, Raghul Panneerselvam & Deekshit K Sur qualified for a spot in the semi-finals of the competition followed by finals which takes place on the final day of the event (27th August 2017).
Groms (Under 16) finals will see defending champion Ajeesh Ali face tough competition from Ruban Vasudevan, Sanjay Selvamani and Manikandan Iyanar. The Novice Category (Under 12), who also are the future of India’s surfing had some exciting skills to showcase as Navin Kumar, Muthukumaran, Akhilan S, Srikanth qualified for the finals. The semi- final round was equally competitivea nd saw Vengat K, Mukesh Panjanathan, Palani Vijayan, Velumurugan Vallathan seal a spot in the finals tomorrow. Ishita Malviya, Suhasini Damian, Vilassini Sunder and Sinchana Gowda made it to the finals of the Women’s Category (All Age – Local)
The Open category (Men) category consisted of six heats. The winners of each heat make it directly to the semi-finals, while the second and third place finishers have to go through a qualifying round to make it to the penultimate round. Corey Andersen, Manikandan M, Ragul Govind, Bazile Pinel, Ramesh Hannuman, Perceval Fayon made it directly to the semi-finals  while Ahmed Agil, Santhoshan Santhakumar, Dharani Selvakumar, Sanjay Selvamani, Praneeth Sadaruwan Pincha Baduge, Surya P, Mani Kandan, Gus Hogno, Milan Andra Hennathige, Deekshit K Survana would have to fight it out in a qualifying round ahead of the semi-fianls.The First heat of the Stand- Up Paddling competition for Men was flagged off by Actor Veera.
The second day of the Covelong Point Surf, Music & Yoga festival 2017 included some enthusing performances by various local and international bands like Mali, The Fanculos, Indosoul by Karthick Iyer and Bemet along with a wonderful act by Covelong Surf Boys. The day also witnessed Yoga Sessions of Vedic Chanting & Asanas by Samanta Duggal, Whole Body Gentle Vinyasa Flow by Bebe, Blind Fold Yoga by Divya Rolla, Moments of Calm by Divya Srinivasan and Yoga for Longevity by the 98 year old Nanna Mal.
