Zee TV’s popular show Dil Dhoondta Hai has grabbed everyone’s attention with its endearing storyline and Raavi-Vishy’s ‘cute’ on-screen chemistry. Recently, Shivya who plays the protagonist Raavi, shot an intense scene for the show where she had to recreate the infamous ‘cheerharan’ sequence from the Mahabharat.
In the show, Raavi’s (Shivya Pathania) mother-in-law looks for opportunities to belittle her. This time around, she decided to embarrass Raavi in front of the entire chawl for which she fastens one end of Raavi’s saree to a chakki (a grinding wheel) and slowly starts the chakki in the hope that like Draupadi, Raavi will also lose her saree and face humiliation from the society. However, Raavi’s knight in shining armour, Vishy (Stavan Shinde) comes just in the nick of time to save her. Even though it was a fictional sequence, the intensity of the emotions Shivya had to display in order to bring alive the essence of scene took a physical and emotional toll on her.
Sharing her experience, Shivya said, “There are a few moments in your life that leave an everlasting impression on you and for me, the ‘cheerharan’ sequence was one of them. It was definitely one of the toughest scenes I have ever shot for and I was in tears while shooting for it. The experience made me realise the magnitude of the physical and emotional stress a woman goes through when she is subjected to physical violation. This is one of the most iconic scenes from Mahabharat and the intensity required to bring out the scene was a challenge in itself. It was an emotional rollercoaster ride but the cast and crew of the show were very supportive.”
More power to you, Shivya !
