Mumbai- December 14, 2017: Mount Litera School International (MLSI), one of the best international schools in Mumbai offering future-ready learning experiences for children, today organized a fun fair for kids fighting cancer. Around 40 kids were invited from Tata Memorial Centre for a morning of fun and frolic along with their parents to the school in Bandra Kurla Complex. A special guest of honor and a cancer survivor Mr. Anurag Basu also graced the occasion and shared his inspiring journey of emerging victorious from his battle with cancer.
The event was organized and managed by approximately 80 students from class 6 to class 9 of Mount Litera School International as part of the school’s ‘Service with Smile’ club in association with an NGO – Annam. The event was planned to ensure that the kids have a memorable day and get to interact with Mr. Basu. The students of Mount Litera School International also gave a grand performance just for the kids which was received with great applause and appreciation. They performed interesting skits, songs and dances which gave social messages like Swachha Bharat and the importance of being united.
Speaking about the noble initiative, Mrs. Navyata Goenka, Advisor, Mount Litera School International said, “We are grateful to the kids who could visit us today and share their time with us. We hope they have taken back some great memories and enjoyed themselves as much as we enjoyed planning and executing the event for them. A big part of our curriculum at Mount Litera School International is to instill the right values in our students making them future ready as well as socially responsible individuals. The ‘Service with Smile’ club contributes just towards that and I congratulate all the students and teachers for their efforts today. I also thank Anurag for his time and sharing with us his journey of fighting cancer”
Speaking at the event, director Anurag Basu said, “The students of Mount Litera School International have put up a great performance today. Their intention to spread happiness amongst kids fighting cancer must surely be applauded. Such events help develop empathy amongst students and make them value what they have. About fighting cancer, the most important thing to remember is to be happy. I feel in the treatment of cancer, 50% of cure can be attributed to medicines and the remaining 50% to will power.”
The event concluded with a fun gaming session for all the kids which they thoroughly enjoyed!
