Mumbai, 24th Feb 2018: NES International School Mumbai - IB World School in association with South Asian IB Schools Association (SAIBSA) has been hosting the NES National Science Festival, A tribute to Nobel Laureate Sir C.V. Raman on account of National Science Day (28th Feb) since last 6 years. To complement the idea of innovation at “Magnetic Maharashtra” program held recently, and to create ‘future scientists’, the NES International School, Mumbai at Mulund (w) hosted 7th edition of NES National Science Festival on 24th Feb 2018 at NES International School, which was inaugurated by Shri Sunil Gaikwad(Member of Parliament) and Dr. R. Varadrajan, Founder principal NES SVB group. Speaking at the event Shri Sunil Gaikwad shared, “I am extremely proud to be a part of this NES Science Festival. NES has become a center for innovation and research by empowering the students to become innovators and hopefully the next big Indian scientist will be from this school. Also I will be speaking with the concerned department to help NES group to start their University in Dombivali soon.”
Around 3500 students from NES & SVB Group Schools of Schools along with 32 other internationals schools like DSB International School, Hill Spring International School, Jamnabai Narsee International School, NSS Hill Spring International School, RBK International School Mumbai, S. H. Agarwal International School, Singhania, The Cathedral Vidya School, Kodaikanal International School , Fountainhead School, Ryan Global School, Aditya Birla World Academy etc were a part of the much-awaited annual science festival. The theme this year was ‘Science of All.’ which saw enlightening working models on display at the science fair this year which included Future of SkyScrappers, Geostationary Satellites, Windmill 2.0, Hydraulic Lift, Tricopter, Auto-street lights, Smart Car parking and speed breaker energy, Hovercraft, Aquaphonics, Colonization on Mars, Solar Robot etc. A team of IIT students mentored the school students.
In its 7th year, the NES Science festival have been at the forefront in encouraging students to think out of the box and come up with projects which can benefit the world at large. Dr. R Varadarajan, Founder Principal, NES SVB Group shared “It is heartening to see young students taking an active part in making their life easy and fruitful with their original ideas. We are hoping that this NES Science fest will be as big as IIT Tech fest”. He further adds, “Every year we are adding something new to the science fest to make it interesting to the students. This year we started NES STEAM Lab, to help students become proficient in the streams of science, technology, engineering, arts and maths.”
In continuation of the 7th NES Science Festival, 1st March 2018 will see the pre-primary section (EYP) showcase their ideas and concepts The little scientists will show their show their original experiments on Living and Non-Living Things, Water, Plants, Life cycles, Experiments with colour paddles, Simple Machines, Fun with Forces(Magnets/Gravity), Space Science, 5 Senses, Body Systems Materials and their properties, Healthy Food V/s Junk Food, Light and Sound, Animal and their habitats, etc.
The Primary and secondary schools event had science projects on Robotics, The Future World (Hyperloop, Google Booth, Solar panels), Wireless Electricity, Electromagnetic Train, Hydraulic Arm, Automatic Street Lights, Vertical Wind Turbine, Smart car parking Home-made vacuum cleaner and Ooblec.
The science festival had working models by students Grades 1 to 12, Science Spelling Bee Competition, a quiz competition, Live Show of Chemical Amusement, Physics Face off, a Science Skit, Debate, Filmmaking, a NES National Science Quiz, NES International Youth Green Parliament. Finale will see the Science exhibition of Pre-Primary Students.
The 7th NES National Science Festival, 2018 is being organized by NESISM on, 1th March 2018 (Pre-Primary Students) at the NES International School, Swapnanagari, Mulund (West).
