Mumbai, February 15: The unseeded pair of Palkan Dave and Preeti Kumar combined well to record an upset a straight games 21-9, 23-21 win against second seeds Naheed Divecha and Pooja Sriram in a women’s combined 75+ doubles semi-final match of the Aditya Birla Capital sponsored 25th G.D. Birla Memorial Masters Inter-Club Badminton Tournament to be played at the Bombay Gymkhana and CCI courts. he championship is organised by Badminton 45 in association with Evolution Sport.
Meanwhile the top seeded pair of Deanne and Nisha Springett took the appointed place in the final with a facile win over Ajita Ravindran and Urvashi Thapa in another semi-final match. Deanne and Nisha called the shots from the start and raced to a 21-10, 21-9 victory.
In a men’s combined 80+ doubles pre-quarter-final encounter, top seeds Manish Hadkar and Sandeep Mohan advanced to the quarter-final defeating Ashish P Khedikar and Manoj Vanjani 30-22, while Rajat Moitera and Sushant Nidodi had a much easier time as they got past Siddharth Halalkar and Suraj Awatramani 30-10 in another last 16 match.
