2nd February’18: Saregama’s South TV production arm added another feather to its cap, when their massively popular show Chandralekha finished a 1000 episodes on the trot. The actors were seen celebrating the landmark episode with a celebration on set, with the leads, the crew and the director joining in. Saregama’s production Chandralekha has not only now successfully completed 3 years of run but has remained one of the most popular shows of the region consistently across all the years.
B R Vijayalakshmi who heads the Saregama television production arm in Chennai said on the occasion: ‘It’s a matter of great pride that Chandralekha is the third show to enter the 1000 episode hall of fame, after Athi Pookal and Valli. This is testimony to the fact that we are producing content that is not just entertaining but consistently finds relevance with its viewers. I would like to thank my fabulous set of actors and an equally hardworking crew, who has made this journey so creatively satisfying. The story of Chandralekha revolves around the conflict between two distinct women whose paths converge. The heroines were switched at birth, and ended up growing in contrasting backdrops, thereby molding their personalities and their way of dealing with life.
Shweta Bandekar popular for playing the lead in comedian Vivek’s flick Naan Than Bala, is playing the role of Chandra and the second lead – Lekha is played by actress Nagashree The serial has also popular faces like Meena Kumari, Niharika, Rishi, Sakshi Siva, Dhanush, and Rajesh. The crew is headlined by Guru Sampath Kumar, known for his screen-plays and K. Shanmugam has penned the dialogues. The camerawork is being handled by K. S. Udhayashankar and the series is being directed by Sundaresan.
