South of Vindhyas at The Orchid Mumbai is hosting ‘Chettinad Food Festival’ with diverse flavours from the Chettinad region. The 10 days festival will bring out the best gastronomy delights and tradition of the Chettiars, a merchant community hailing from two southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The restaurant will be decorated depicting a Chettinad village home with traditional rangoli at entrance, incredible arrangement of banana leaves & jhendu flowers and traditional chandelier around of main pillar. The restaurant staffs will be dressed in traditional Dhoti and Kurta. Local music from Chettinad region will be played during lunch and dinner.
Master Chef Bala and his team has specially prepared Ala Carte menu with full of Chettinad delicacies. Fill up your palate with elaborate spread of dishes from Chettinad cuisine such as of Rasam of the day, Mutton soup, Real Melagu roast, Vanjira meen varuval, Paricha vavval meen, Chiken cutlet, Chettinad Mutton varuval, Mutton pepper fry and Mutta Bhaji. Chettinad cuisine is known for the complexity in flavours is characterized by distinct aroma of freshly grounded spices namely red chilies, black pepper, clove, cinnamon, turmeric and cardamom.
