DAY 1 OF WEAR.STYLE BANGALORE FASHION WEEK
Bangalore, 3 February 2017:  16th Edition of Wear.Style Bangalore Fashion Week kicked off in the garden city with 5 new and celebrated designers showcasing an eclectic mix of design sensibilities and influences. From architectural inspirations to representation of a royal Indian wedding, the first day of fashion week saw a spectacular preview of city’s growing fashion talent.

Starting off Day 1 of fashion week were the young designer duo Gana Gowda and Rinu Alunkal who presented their love for modern sophistication meshed with traditional Indian aesthetics with their collection name Geometric blues. The collection brought different shades of blue tied-in with geometric patterns and modern motifs alive on stage while keeping the traditional Indian conventional styles intact.

Keeping her focus precise on craftsmanship and refined tailoring, designer Sehrish Kabir showcased her couture collection Enchanting Moors inspired by Spanish Moorish architecture, which was an artistic infusion of conservative culture and western world. The intricate stucco work enthused designs drew its influence from the Islamic art from the palace of Sultan tracing back to 13th century Spain. The collection was dominated by rich textiles like velvets, raw silks, sequins, heavy nets in alluring metallic and rustic colors.

Sehrish Kabir

Day 1 also saw the introduction of homegrown designer Sridevi Gogga to Bangalore Fashion Week, who sketched Hampi’s numerous temple complexes from Vijayanagara Empire in her collection designs,Maya. With the choice of cream and white as primary colour Sridevi’s modern Indian collection brought Witari work and intricate embroidery to light.

Alongside Sridevi Gogga, Bangalore Fashion Week also witnessed the first showcase by Puneesh Chopra in its 16thedition with his collection Dilwale - Rang De. The modern Indian ensemble saw a fantastic blend of inventive textures and design motifs, which brought Puneesh’s versatility to the fore.

With his highly distinguished style in the couture bridal designs, Unais Mustafa brought his signature line to showcase at the fashion week with his collection theme La mystical elegance. Celebrated for his bridal boutique Page 3 studio, Unais’ handcrafted bride and groom collection put together was beaming with pomp and glamour with heavy zardosi work, mirros, sequins and embellishments across each garment.

Revered for his theatrical presentation, Ramesh Dembla continued to engage the audience with his opulent design sensibilities as part of the closing showcase of Day 1 of Bangalore Fashion Week. With the collection namedRegalia, Ramesh represented the grandeur associated with a royal Indian wedding with his couture line. Recognised for his unique design which is defined by layers, embellishments and edgy finishes, the collection accentuated traditional sentiments associated with bridal wear whilst giving it a new age twist. The collection was dictated by the colours red and gold.

The four-day event, between 2 – 5 February, 2017 is held at Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel, Brigade Gateway from 2 pmonwards.
