A film that deals with a serious and debatable topic like farmers committing suicide due to corporate encroachment, Khaaki Aur Khiladi was the highest grossing Tamil film of 2014. The story revolves around the lives of lookalikes Kathiresan and Jeevanantham and the drama that ensues when their paths meet. Directed by the celebrated director AR Murugadoss, Khaki Aur Khiladi stars Vijay in dual roles along with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Sathish essaying pivotal characters. Jeevanandham is a social activist who fights against a monstrous MNC company to restore farming in a village named Thanoothu. However, destiny has different plans when his doppelganger Kathiresan, who is a petty criminal impersonates him and gets him trapped in a jail in Kolkata. Kathiresan who plans to escape to Bangkok, drops the idea after meeting Ankitha (Samantha Ruth Prabhu), and falling in love with her. Kathir, along with Ravi (Sathish), witness Jeevanandam ‘Jeeva’ (Vijay) being beaten up by some thugs. Soon enough they both realise that Jeevan and Kathir are look alikes. To escape from the police, Kathir takes on Jeevanandam’s identity after admitting him to a hospital. As he starts his life afresh, Kathir realizes that Jeeva had discovered groundwater in some parts of his village. But, an MNC owned by Chirag (Neil Nitin Mukesh) tricked the residents of the village into giving up their land for the construction of a factory. Kathir realises his true calling and decides to help the villagers. However, Jeeva regains consciousness in the hospital and learns that he has been trapped.
