Arvind Uppal, Chairman Whirlpool of India Limited decides on early retirement


Mumbai , Thursday, May 25, 2017: Whirlpool of India Limited today announced that,  Mr. Arvind Uppal, Chairman Whirlpool of India Limited and President Asia Pacific, Whirlpool Corporation has decided to voluntarily retire from Whirlpool Corporation effective December 31, 2017.
Mr. Uppal will continue in his role as Chairman, Whirlpool of India Limited.
Commenting on his decision Mr. Uppal said, ““This has been a very satisfying and fulfilling 12 years where I have experienced some of the toughest battles and made some of my best friends. I believe the business is now in very good hands and the time has come to pass on the baton.”
Thanking Mr. Uppal Mr. Marc Bitzer, President and Chief Operating Officer, Whirlpool Corporation said, "Over these past 12 years Arvind has fundamentally changed our business in India and beyond. Our enviable brand and product position, coupled with an exceptionally strong team provide an outstanding platform for a great future. I do thank Arvind for leaving this great legacy and I am very pleased to have him continue serve as Chairman of our India business."
Mr.  Uppal joined Whirlpool of India Limited in February 2005 as Managing Director and was elevated to the position of President Asia Pacific in 2010.  Prior to Whirlpool he had a stint of 18 years with Nestle, where he held various senior management positions in Switzerland, China, Vietnam and India.
