WIFA Youth Championship report

KMP, Pune emerge champions in WIFA Youth Championship
Mumbai, May 2:  Keshav Madhav Prathistan (KMP), Pune emerged champions of the 1st WIFA State Youth Championship, organized as part of the FIFA-AIFF State Development Project, and played at the Cooperage ground.
In the final, KMP struck good form and scored once in each half to tame home favourites MSSA (Mumbai Schools Sports Association) Academy, Mumbai by a comfortable 2-0 margin  claim the top prize.
The Pune outfit and the Mumbai Academy lads were engaged in a exciting battle and both teams created scoring opportunities as they tried to wrest the initiative. However, it was the Pune team that managed to break the deadlock with consistent goal-scorer Ishwar Racheal finding the back of the net midway through the first half.
Keshav Madhav having taken the lead played with more confidence and doubled their lead with Sufiyan Shaikh scoring the second goal early in the second half.
Ishwar Racheal was later declared ‘Player of the Tournament’.
The players of the winning Keshav Madhav team received the ‘Champions’ trophy from WIFA Hon. Secretary, Souter, Vaz, Treasurer, Pyarelal Chaudhary and CEO Henry Menezes.
Earlier in the semi-finals, MSSA struck top form in the second half scoring three times during this period to overcome city rivals Goans Sports Association 3-1, while Keshav Madhav Pratishtan blanked Nashik Football Coaching Centre by a comfortable 2-0 margin.
Results –finals: Keshav Madhav Pratishtan, Pune 2  (Ishwar Racheal, Sufiyan Shaikh) beat MSSA Academy 0.
