The 20 year old pop singer Lorde’s second album ‘Melodrama’, has placed itself as the no 1 album on the weekly Billboard 200. Melodrama being the second album release of Lorde, sold 82,000 albums, 40,000 songs and was streamed nearly 35 million times totaling 109,000 album units according to figures from Nielsen. The singer’s album Is also at the top position in Australia
Lorde is the third consecutive solo artist to top the Billboard 200 after Katy Perry’s ‘Witness’ and Halsey ‘Hopeless fountain kingdom’. Back her first album release ‘Pure Heroine’ featuring her hit single ‘Royals’ also made it to the No. 3 position on the Billboard chart 200 in 2013 with 129,000 copies sold in its first week.
Lorde took to Twitter after her sophomore album debuted at the top of the Billboard, thanking her 5 million fans. Lorde's fan base is clearly growing, with the pop star's album topping the weekly Billboard 200 chart this week. Her album also led to six new entries in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart this week.
