‘Eat Play Love’ sees Mumbai witness its first spectacular multi-cultural Food, Music and Art Festival

22nd December 2016: Exploding with flavours, aromas and recipes, Mumbai witnessed a fun celebration of delectable gourmet garnished with aesthetic cultural demonstrations at an inimitable two-day food, art and music festival on 17th and 18th December set against the majestic backdrop of Turf Club, Mumbai from noon to 10pm every day. Spearheaded by Percept Live and The Eat India Company, EAT PLAY LOVE saw visitors at the venue enjoy an opportunity to sample some of the country’s best restaurants and food vendors, along with an abundance of sensory entertainment. Artists showcased their best talent, transforming the venue into a living art gallery.
More than 100 exhibitors from across the country attained an opportunity to present avid gastronomes a chance to feast on diverse cuisines and savour authentic tastes right from heritage restaurants to street food to highway dhabhas to homemade delicacies to organic fresh produce. Apart from the food and music zone, the festival also served as a playground of cultural commotion with dedicated zones to art, photography, retail, wellness, comedy, adventure sports and children.
The EAT section saw a superb line-up of foodie experiences and hosted tailor-made zones such as #EatLive #EatFresh #EatGalli #EatCafes #EatTrucks to cater to the specific preferences of the discerning visitors apart from having live cooking demos and master classes with the top chefs of the country. The Home chef zone included everything from Rajasthani, Bihari, Punjabi, Bengali, Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, South Indian and Asian to cater to diverse taste buds. Dolly Singh, Home Café, Rasa #100, and Your’s Drooly offered innovative takes on Indian regional food. Food trucks zone saw Lalit Food Truck, Pettoos Food Truck, and Bombay Food Truck wow attendees with the diversity of their offerings. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Auto Cafe inculcated an indo-Japanese inspired menu by well-known celebrity chef Vicky Ratnani. The food court saw representation from heritage Mumbai eateries such as Moti Mahal Deluxe as well as saw relatively new entrants like 1441 pizzeria, Fatty Bao and Kaavo. Other prominent food brands present at the festival included Wok Express, Maroosh, TGL Co., savoury ice-creams and delicacies from Shahi Durbar & Ice Cream Factory, Bites of Bliss and Frugurpop. Other food exhibitors included Keventers, Kolkata Konnection, Punjab Da Chullah and Hungry Monks.
The PLAY section witnessed a Kids Zone and an alternative Live Stage for acoustic bands, comedy acts and dance troupes apart from an open theatre for movie lovers, a gaming zone for adventure fanatics and a retail zone for fashion addicts. The Perrier Experience Zone allowed adventure junkies to experience a never seen before virtual experience in hot air balloon rides up in the skies.
The LOVE section allowed connoisseurs to indulge in art workshops, graffiti wall art activities, yoga seminars, fashion shows, celebrity panel discussions, book reading sessions, karaoke open house and photography exhibitions.
The Talents at the festival were diverse. From featuring India’s first professional rapper, Baba Sehgal and and talented Ayushmaan Khurrana on day 1 to India’s leading live band act The Other People and pop singer Lucky Ali on day 2, EAT PLAY LOVE became an avenue for cultural connoisseurs to bring alive their fantasy. Two stages aka. The Main stage and Chill Out stage hosted stellar live acts like Voctronica the first beatboxing band, rock performances by Vikram Kaushik Monks of Mellonwah, stand-up acts by Zakhir Khan and a stellar performance by DJ Ahmet Kilic.
An outdoor spa allowed attendees to rejuvenate and relish after some dancing. Being a festival for the entire family, there was reserved seating for senior citizens and an all-day care centre for children. The festival also saw the debut of India’s only children literature festival - Peek A Book featuring master storytellers like Hawaii’s Jeff Gere, puppeteer Usha Venkatraman, fitness specialist Rashmi Ramesh, and teacher turned author Katie Bagli.
Maruti Suzuki and Scootsy presented Eat Play Love, powered by Gionee in association with Perrier, Ola and Panchshil. The festival was backed and supported by Maharashtra Tourism, with media partners PVR, 94.3 Radio One FM and Peek a Book also supporting the festival.
