Sharib Hashmi and the makers of PHULLU knew well that they had taken upon themselves a task that won’t be easy. Mainly because they were shooting on location in a quaint village and were talking about sanitary pads.
The cast and crew had prepared themselves to deal with some people who won’t understand why the need to make the film but what they didn’t expect was the reaction they got from the women folk, said our source. Reportedly, everyone was shocked to see Sharib handling a sanitary pad. They couldn’t fathom a man talking about it, but actually holding it and publicizing it was completely beyond them.
“Once we finished shooting, we thought we will give all the villagers a pack of sanitary pads. They got freaked out seeing Sharib hold a sanitary pad. It was just not done for a man to know about it, forget being so open about periods, it was hilarious. Because it took us a while to realize what was it that was shocking them so much,” shared the lead actress of the film, Jyotii Sethi.
PHULLU is directed by Abhishek Saxena, starring Sharib Ali Hashmi, Jyotii Sethi and Nutan Surya. The film is produced by Pusha Chaudhary, Dr. Anmol Kapoor, Kshitij Chaudhary and Raman Kapoor in association with AmbiAbhi Production. Story, screenplay and dialogue is by Shaheen Iqbal.
