MUMBAI, June 5th, 2017: This cricketing season, the much-awaited cricket-comedy chat show ‘‘What The Duck’ begins its 2nd innings with Ravichandran Ashwin opening the line up on 5thJune. The show hosted by Vikram Sathaye, a stand-up comedian and a cricketing insider, brings out never heard before secrets, intimate stories and the funny side of our Boys in Blue only on Viu,the video-on-demand service.
An interesting fact to note is that, the serious looking Ashwin has a comic side to him as well? Surprised?
The archeologist turned cricketer’s revelation on the show is captured by Sathaye in the funniest way one can expect, be it his journey from being an opening batsman to getting branded as a wicket taking bowler. His encounters with the Gentlemen in Blue will leave you in splits, making you wonder, if he is the same person who has just bagged the title of ‘International Cricketer of the Year’.
In a candid conversation, Ashwin spills the beans on an absent-minded Kris Srikkanth (Watch here), narrating how he stubbed his cigarette in his sambhar and walked away. The notorious Srikkanth left Ashwin nothing but stupefied. He credits Bhajji for making him the bowler that he is because of his unique skip and bowl action. On a lighter note, he also terms Bhajji as his mimicry model.
Ashwin also takes a dig at Pujara, quoted first time on camera stating, “I am glad Pujara’s father did not let him play with the tennis ball; as the first parameter to be able to play tennis ball cricket is to be able to cheat”
Perched on the couch with Sathaye, the calm and composed Ashwin is geared up to make us fall off our chairs by targeting Sehwag in the quirkiest manner possible. He recalls his first interaction with Sehwag that he claims has been etched in his mind for a lifetime. Sehwag being Sehwag, an adept batsman made it a point to cut every ball leaving Ashwin intimidated. To add to it, when he asked the witty Sehwag for tips, Sehwag being his usual self, told him, “I do not consider off-spinners as bowlers”.
In retaliation to Sehwag (Watch here), he goes all out and gives out a statement that is going to make headlines “You need to bowl Sehwag’s ego out." Indeed, a captivating watch for cricket lovers!!!
