RAKSHA RAJYA MANTRI DR SUBHASH BHAMRE VISITS SRINAGAR AND FORWARD AREAS IN JAMMU & KASHMIR


The Raksha Rajya Mantri Dr. Subash Bhamre visited Srinagar on a two-day visit on June 08 to 09, 2017 to review the overall security situation in the Kashmir Valley. This was Dr. Bhamre’s first visit to Jammu & Kashmir after he assumed charge as the Raksha Rajya Mantri.
During his two-day visit, the Raksha Rajya Mantri was briefed by the Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen JS Sandhu and other senior officers of the Indian Army on the prevailing situation in the Valley. The Minister was also briefed on the close coordination amongst all the government agencies towards bringing back normalcy in the region.
During the visit, Dr. Bhamre alongwith Lt Gen JS Sandhu visited the forward areas along the Line of Control as also the hinterland where he interacted with the soldiers and was briefed on the prevailing security situation.  Interacting with the soldiers and officers, Dr. Bhamre appreciated their bravery and hard work in very difficult circumstances due to the terrain and weather conditions in which their forward posts are located. Dr. Bhamre had special praise for our valiant jawans and said they should be assured that the government will take every measure to look after their welfare. He also was briefed on the various measures instituted to strengthen the security posture. The Minister also urged all to continue the strict vigil and deal firmly with all elements inimical to national interest.
During the visit the Raksha Rajya Mantri, today also joined the Army at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar in paying tributes to its valiant soldier Riffleman Tara Bahadur Roka who had attained martyrdom on 08 June 2017 in Nowgam Sector of Kashmir during a counter infiltration operation in which three armed intruders were eliminated.
