Rebecca Dewan new collection’s aesthetic beautifully blends Iranian tradition with contemporary design, seeking to reflect the 16th century Iran’s heritage and culture through clothes that appeal to modern, fashionable women. Intricate embroidery, which recalls Iranian calligraphy and poetry, and patterns reflecting traditional geometric design all feature in her numerous pieces.
Speaking about the collection Rebecca Dewan stated, “ Persia comes with rich history of art and culture. The reflection creates a breathtaking beauty that is very spiritual for me. Similar to pieces I have designed for luxury companies previously, I have given lots of attention to detail in design and quality in this collection. As the collection names states, it is an ode to fashion bringing out the princess attribute inside every woman.”
Self-taught fashion entrepreneur who is born and raised in London, ventured into mainstream designing with her eponymous haute couture label in August 2016, couturier Rebecca Dewan has already dressed the likes of Sushmita Sen, Soha Ali Khan, Tanisha Mukherji, Zareen Khan, Mandira Bedi, Daisy Shah, Sunidhi Chauhan, Neha Dhupia, Urvashi Rautela, Ellie Evram, Amyra Dastur and Iulia Vantur. Rebecca’s collections are inspired by her global escapades with her innings in luxury being an extension of her innate passion for fashion.
The Rebecca Dewan brand impresses upon contemporary couture, classic and chic, but more importantly it stands for complete and independent woman, quality being one of the most important facets. Extremely experimental with her designs, Dewan believes in promoting regional handicrafts and workmanship from rural parts of India like Benares, Lucknow, and the appliqué and patchwork of Gujarat, amongst other initiatives. She effortlessly displays a contemporary edge to high-end ethnic couture, and is constantly reinventing and redefining the fashion boundaries through her designs. Her fiercely urbane extravagant style is result of fusion of unconventional fabrics, silhouettes, styles, colours and embellishments.
With a passion to not play by the rule book, Rebecca’s collection is the reflection of a modern woman’s unpredictable moods. She believes even a simple ensemble embellished with the right amount of luxury can give you the wearer an edge over others.
The haute couture label is well priced and has its flagship store in Bandra West, Mumbai.
