Twitter launches new look to make it feel lighter, faster, and easier to use

The slew of changes will be rolled out across twitter.com, Twitter for iOS, Twitter for Android, TweetDeck and Twitter Lite in the next few days and weeks
India, 15 June 2017: Twitter today announced that it’s refreshing its look to make it feel lighter, faster, and easier to use. This announcement follows the brand refresh that happened last year, when Twitter declared took steps to express what the brand stands for - Twitter is the best place to see and talk about what’s happening everywhere in the world right now. These latest developments are based on the feedback and ideas from the users-- with Twitter retaining what is loved and taking a new approach to fix things that weren’t, in order  to improve the overall user experience.

Following are some of the changes rolling out across twitter.com, Twitter for iOS, Twitter for Android, TweetDeck and Twitter Lite over the coming days and weeks:
·         Profile, additional accounts, settings, and privacy – all in one place! A new side navigation menu and fewer tabs at the bottom of the app will ensure less clutter and easier browsing.* People gave the feedback that they loved this change on Android last year and Twitter is excited to now bring it to iOS.
·         Links to articles and websites now open in Safari’s viewer in the Twitter appso people can easily access accounts on websites they’re already signed into.*

·         Twitter has refined its typography to make it more consistent, and added bolder headlines to make it easier to focus on what’s happening. Also, rounded profile photos make it clearer to see what’s being said and who’s saying it.
·         More intuitive icons make it easier to engage with Tweets – especially if people are coming to Twitter for the first time. For example, people thought the reply icon, an arrow, meant delete or go back to a previous page. Twitter switched to a speech bubble, a symbol most know and love and has made the icons lighter for more seamless interaction.
·         Tweets now update instantly with reply, Retweet, and like counts so people can see conversations as they’re happening – live.**

People will also see additional accessibility choices such as increased colour contrast and the option to always open supported links in Safari Reader view.*
As always, Twitter will continue to listen to people's feedback and has more design updates coming soon.
*iOS only
