Despacito crosses 3 billion views becoming most viewed song in the world!

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s ‘Despacito’ has managed to break yet another record and this time its massive. The globally viral Latin track has gone on to become the most watched video in the world and the first ever video to reach the 3 billion mark on YouTube. This comes as a surprise for a bilingual Spanish centric song but since its release ‘Despacito’ has successfully been breaking records worldwide and this recent achievement tops the list.
The Puerto Rican singer had released the video in January this year and ultimately YouTube announced that the song has surpassed the views of its predecessor Wiz khalifa and Charlie Puth’s ‘See you Again’ making it the first ever song to reach the 3 billion views mark and counting. Previously, the Spanish track had made headlines for being the most streamed song in the world with 4.6 billion worldwide. The track has two versions to it, one being the song in it’s original format and a separate remix featuring megastar Justin Bieber. Although, the original video has crossed 3 billion views, the audio featuring Justin Bieber has surpassed 464 million views on YouTube.
Moreover, the global hit has been on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for over 12 consecutive weeks and just until recently was atop the Spotify Global Top 50 chart. In India, both the versions to the song had previously been atop on iTunes chart in India at the #1 and #2 positions. The loved track is breaking new records regularly and from what it seems ‘Despacito’ is unstoppable and can definitely be the song of the year!
