Mumbai, 7th June 2018:  With the single minded purpose of transforming the lives of the rural marginalized people, with a view to achieve their holistic development to enable them eventually to join the mainstream of the society, Light of Life Trust announces its fundraiser “Kaagaz Ki Kashti”- Biopic on Jagjit Singh in Mumbai onFriday, 8th of June, 2018, 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm at Films Division of India, Preview Theatre III, Peddar Road, Mumbai.
In an era when Bollywood music ruled the Indian households and when Ghazal as a genre was limited to only the connoisseurs, Jagjit Singh made Ghazals a necessity of every music lover’s collection. Through in-depth conversations with friends, family, colleagues and through archival footage, the film becomes an intimate portrait of the iconic Ghazal maestro, Padma Bhushan Jagjit Singh.
Kaagaz Ki Kashti is an evocative film of not just Jagjit Singh’s life, but also of the monumental legacy he has left behind. The movie is directed by Brahmanand S Siingh who is an Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter based out of Mumbai. He is best known for his feature-length documentary on R. D. Burman, Pancham, Unmixed: Mujhe Chalte Jaana Hai. Siingh current feature project, Jhalki ... Ek Aur Bachpan , is a feature film that attempts to create public awareness of this global problem at a large scale through an engaging social thriller.
Kaagaz Ki Kashti traces the life journey of a down-to-earth, small-town boy, who made it big by breaking through the norms and revolutionizing the Ghazal scenario, by texturing traditional Ghazal singing with western instrumentation and making it simple and hummable, enticing new listeners into becoming Ghazal fans. Tracing three converging tracks, the struggle and stardom in his musical career, the love & loss in his personal life and the scope and limitations in the music scenario of the times.
