The Parsi Community has given many great people who have contributed a lot towards nation building said Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Minority Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi while addressing a large number of people from the Parsi community and renowned personalities from various fields at the launch of “Jiyo Parsi Publicity Phase-2” at Mumbai, Shri Naqvi said that the Parsi community has made immense contribution in nation building and Parsi community has been a “role model” for other communities for its culture and traditions.
Shri Naqvi said that even though the Parsi community is a very small minority community in India but there is no doubt that the Parsi community is one of the most liberal, educated and an example of “peace and harmony”.
Shri Naqvi said that Jamshetji Tata played a crucial role in industrial development of India; Dadabhai Naoroji and Madam Bhikaji Cama played an important role in India’s freedom struggle; Homi J Bhabha is “father of Indian nuclear programme. Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw’s service to the nation will be always remembered. Be it industry, military service, legal service, architecture or civil services, the Parsi community has always shown its talent.
Shri Naqvi said that the declining population of Parsi community in India is a matter of concern. “Jiyo Parsi Publicity Phase-1” was initiated in 2013 for containing the declining trend of population of the Parsi community and reverse it to bring their population above the threshold level.
The main objective of the “Jiyo Parsi” scheme is to reverse the declining trend of Parsi population by adopting a scientific protocol and structured interventions, stabilize their population and increase the population of Parsis in India. Ministry of Minority Affairs’ scheme has two components: Medical Assistance and Advocacy/Counselling. The scheme has been successful. 101 babies have been born in Parsi community through “Jiyo Parsi” scheme.
Shri Naqvi said that Parzor Foundation was an important link between the Parsi community and the government in success of “Jiyo Parsi” scheme. And the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai; the Bombay Parsi Panchayet (BPP) and Federation of Zoroastrian Anjumans of India have also played a key role in this regard.
These organisations have been publicising the scheme through outreach programmes like seminars, workshops, publicity, brochures, Parsi journals and other advocacy programmes and awareness campaign.

भारताच्या निर्मितीत पारशी समाजाचे योगदान महत्त्वपूर्ण राहिले असून हा समाज आपल्या संस्कृतीमुळे नेहमीच अन्य समाजासाठी मार्गदर्शक राहिला आहे, असे मत केंद्रीय अल्पसंख्याक राज्यमंत्री मुख्तार अब्बास नक्वी यांनी व्यक्त केले.
मुंबईत आयोजित “जिओ पारशी” योजनेच्या जाहिरात मोहिमेच्या दुसऱ्या टप्प्याचे उद्‌घाटन आज नक्वी यांच्या हस्ते झाले, त्यावेळी ते बोलत होते. देशात पारशी समाजाची लोकसंख्या जरी अल्‍प प्रमाणात असली तरी हा समाज उदारमतवादी, शिक्षणाप्रती जागरुक आणि शांतताप्रिय असल्याचं ते म्हणाले. पारशी समाजाच्या सुरक्षा आणि विकासासाठी सरकार कटिबद्ध असून या समाजासमोरील समस्यांच्या निराकरणासाठी सरकार सर्वतोपरी सहकार्य करेल असे आश्वासन नक्वी यांनी यावेळी दिले.
पारशी समाजाच्या लोकसंख्येत होणारी घट हा चिंतेचा विषय असल्याचं नक्वी यांनी नमूद केले. यावर उपाय म्हणून अल्पसंख्याक मंत्रालयाने जिओ पारशी ही योजना सुरू केली आहे. या योजनेअंतर्गत या समाजाच्या कमी होणाऱ्या लोकसंख्येबद्दल जागरुकता निर्माण करत देशातील या समाजाच्या लोकसंख्या वाढीवर भर दिला जात आहे. या योजनेच्या पहिल्या टप्प्याला 2013 मध्ये सुरूवात झाली होती. या योजनेमुळे 101 पारसी मुलांचा जन्म झाला.
देशाच्या उद्योग क्षेत्रातील जमशेदजी टाटा यांचे महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान, स्वातंत्र्य संग्रामातील दादाभाई नौरोजी, भिकाजी कामा यांची देशभक्ती, होमी भाभा यांचे अणु ऊर्जा क्षेत्रातील योगदान तसेच फिल्ड मार्शल सॅम माणेकशॉ यांचे सैन्यदलातील योगदान ही भारताच्या समृद्ध इतिहासाची ठळक वैशिष्ट्ये असल्याचे नक्वी यांनी यावेळी स्पष्ट केले.
सर्वसमावेशक विकास आणि अंत्योदय हा संकल्प घेऊन केंद्र सरकार समाजाच्या प्रत्येक व्यक्तीसाठी प्रगती, सुरक्षा आणि सन्मान यासाठी काम करत असल्याचं नक्वी यांनी यावेळी स्पष्ट केले.
जिओ पारशी योजनेकरता पारजोर फाऊंडेशन, बॉम्बे पारशी पंचायत, टी.आय.एस.एस. मुंबई आणि फेडरेशन ऑफ जोरास्ट्रीयन अंजुमन्स ऑफ इंडिया यांचं योगदान लाभत आहे. कार्यशाळा, जागृती अभियान आदी माध्यमातून या योजनेचा प्रसार केला जात आहे.
