Barun Haldar, a legendary English news reader with phenomenal voice in All India Radio news has passed away in Kolkata last evening. He was 85. Family sources said Haldar was ailing for sometime. He was a popular presenter of Western Music in AIR Kolkata before shifting to AIR Delhi as English Newsreader. He retired as Chief Newsreader of AIR in 1990. After retirement, he settled in Dehradun. Barun Da began his career as a western music announcer at AIR Kolkata.
