Arjun Rampal’s Daddy trailer clocks over 10 million views, earning love from cinema buffs and critics alike!

The trailer of Arjun Rampal's Daddy has almost touched 10 million views.  It was not unexpected given the kind of response the first look of the film received from audiences. Arjun Rampal plays the titular role of Arun Gawli in the biopic based on the life of the Worli gang lord. Besides Arjun’s gobsmacking transformation, we are also intrigued about the film due to its director, Ashim Ahluwalia. The filmmaker’s noir film Miss Lovely got rave reviews at Cannes few years ago and made everyone sit up and notice Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The team has recreated the Mumbai of the 70s-80s with great finesse, like we saw in the Aala Re Ganesha song.
This curiosity has led to the trailer touching almost 10 million views. It gives us a glimpse into the life of Arun Gawli who reigned at a time when unemployment was rife due to the closure of mills. Arjun has also written the film, which made news when Gawli’s family requested them to postpone the release hoping that he would come out on parole. They are very happy with the final product. Geeta Gawli has told the media, “To see Daddy in person and on screen is very different. We cannot wait for the movie and are overwhelmed by the trailer. Arjun and Ashim have shown every aspect of our fathers life in this movie. We have no words to describe what we are going through. Over the last 3 years, Arjun has really understood my father and I really respect that he has kept his feelings in mind and made this movie while staying true to the ups and downs that he has endured in his life.”
Daddy was the first film to be launched at the Google headquarters. It seems Arun Gawli told Arjun, “When he (Arun Gawli) was out on parole, he saw the film and he really liked it. It’s a hard-hitting film so he was like ‘zyada hogaya’ (too much). He is happy and even the family is happy. They have seen the reaction to the trailer and they have more faith in the project.”
Wave Cinemas Ponty Chadha in association with Raju Chadha, Karta Entertainment and Kundalini Entertainment present Daddy, releasing on 8th of September 2017.
